The BEERG team have between them worked on employee relations and employment strategy issues in more than 80 countries throughout the world and specifically on restructuring in every country in the European Union. Today we work with many of same companies and executives that we worked with more than 15 years ago and most of our business comes from personal referrals. BEERG’s consulting services are limited to the areas where we are recognised experts. We do not undertake projects outside our specialism in international employee relations.
We have provided consultancy services to member and non-member companies in the following areas:
• All aspects of European Works Council (EWC) management – including negotiating and renegotiating EWC agreements, assisting with EWC meetings and planning for, and participating in, “exceptional" meetings where consultation is required on transnational issues; • Following on our role as the technical advisers to BUSINESSEUROPE on the “recast” EWC Directive, which came into force on 5th June 2009 and which has to be transposed into national law by June 5th 2011, we offer a variety of specific services relating to understanding how the new law affects companies; developing strategies to deal with any changes required in EWC agreements or structures resulting from the 2009 Directive and managing the introduction of such changes; • Planning the employee relations aspects of substantial restructuring programmes including relocations, headcount reductions, closures and outsourcing. This includes planning for and managing information and consultation requirements at the national and ingernational levels. We can also offer assistance in liaising with both politicians and government officials, where necessary. • Planning for and introducing cost saving programmes not associated with job loss e.g. changes in hours of work and terms and conditions of employment; • Understanding major legal and non-legal changes in labor relations practices in key economies including China, Australia, the United States and the member states of the EU. We offer a bespoke briefing service related to a company’s corporate footprint; • Planning for and monitoring collective bargaining outcomes; • Planning for and managing the employee relations implications of mergers and acquisitions; • Developing international employee relations strategies to deliver company objectives and to anticipate and deal with issues associated with relationships with international trade unions and labor related interest groups and managing labor related corporate social responsibility • Managing trade union recognition requests in countries where this is most relevant e.g. the UK and Ireland, the United States and China;
